After the Order

After You Order a Firearm Online: What Happens Next?

You clicked order and got the confirmation email. Now what? Here is the normal path from the seller to your local FFL and then to pickup.

First, the seller needs the receiving FFL information

If you selected Coldbore Firearms during checkout, the seller may already have what they need. Other sellers may contact me for a copy of the FFL information before they ship.

If you are not sure, send me the order details and seller name. I can tell you what the next step is.

The seller ships the firearm to the FFL

The firearm is shipped to the receiving dealer, not directly to you. You may get tracking from the seller just like you would with another online order.

Tracking is useful, but there is one thing I tell people all the time: delivered does not always mean ready for pickup.

I still have to receive it properly

When a package arrives, I need to verify what came in and enter it into my records before we can do the transfer.

So if the carrier says it was delivered ten minutes ago, give me a little time. Once it is checked in and ready, I will contact you.

Then we set up the pickup

Coldbore is appointment-only, so once the firearm is ready we can set a time that works.

Bring the required current identification and anything else we discussed ahead of time. If you are unsure what you need, ask before making the trip.

You complete the required transfer process

At pickup, you complete the required paperwork and background-check process that applies to the transaction.

If the process does not come back immediately, that does not automatically mean something is wrong. I will tell you what I can and what the next step is.

What if the item is wrong or damaged?

Do not assume we can simply treat it like a normal retail return. The seller's policies matter, and the right next step depends on the situation.

If something looks wrong when it arrives, talk to me before we finish the transfer so we can figure out what needs to happen with the seller.

My best advice

Contact me before you order when you can. After you order, send me the seller name and order information so I know what is coming.

That small bit of communication makes the whole process smoother.

Need a hand?

Send me what you are looking at.

If you have a model, UPC, or link and you are not sure what it means or whether it fits what you want, send it over. I would rather help you sort it out before you spend money.
