Pickup Checklist

What to Bring When Picking Up a Firearm From an FFL

You do not need to show up with a folder full of paperwork. For most people, the pickup appointment is pretty straightforward.

Bring your current photo ID

Bring a current government-issued photo ID with your current information.

If your address has changed, your ID is expired, or you are not sure whether your documents will work, message me before the appointment. Depending on the situation, additional documentation may be needed.

Know what order you are picking up

If you have the order number, seller name, or shipping information handy, bring it or keep it on your phone. Most of the time I already know exactly what is yours, but having the information available never hurts.

Give yourself a little time

The transfer includes required paperwork and the background-check process. Sometimes everything moves quickly and sometimes it takes longer.

I do not like rushing customers through paperwork. I would rather you have enough time to read the questions and ask me if something is unclear.

Do not send somebody else to pick it up for you

The person completing the transfer needs to be the person receiving the firearm. If something about your order or pickup situation is unusual, contact me before you come over so we can figure out what applies.

Not sure? Ask before you drive over

That is really the big one. If you are wondering whether your ID is okay, whether the firearm is ready, or what time to come by, send me a message first. It is a lot easier to solve a question before you are standing at the door.

Want the official version?

I keep these guides simple on purpose. If you want to read the federal information directly, these are the sources I use:

Have a question?

Just ask me.

If you are not sure what applies to your situation, send me a message before you make the trip. I would rather answer a quick question than have you guessing.
